Research & Projects

Camilla Barbera is an Italian physical theatre maker, dancer & performer based in Berlin.
Her work spans from constructed theatre and dance pieces and interdisciplinary improvisation to visual art, depending on what the research is asking for, and always in the attempt gain awareness of the self and its environment. She creates to try and better understand human nature through embodiment.

Sometimes the process of a project starts using improvisation with different elements, sometimes trying to construct from an idea - the basic intention is always to listen.

The narrative of her pieces is often left open to leave a good amount of space for personal interpretation and where performance enters the realms of the subconscious collective imagination.

Other then creating on her own and working with fellow artists, she has an ongoing collaboration with JAŠA (Kühlhaus Berlin), Wasch Collective, and Studio K77, where she is one of the funding members of the K77 Performance Series.
